90's ballin with Daniel Bocai
The 90s aesthetic is making a strong comeback in today's fashion and culture, and I wanted to capture that vibe through film photography. For this shoot, I focused on capturing the old-school, hip-hop, American street life aesthetic that is so iconic to that era.
Here's a memory refresher if you don't remember Daniel:
My name is Daniel Bocai, but most people call me Dane. I’m 20 and I’m from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. I am studying Cognitive Sciences and Artificial Intelligence in the Netherlands, although I’m not sure I’ll keep this path in the future as photography is actually the thing I’m passionate about.
The 90s aesthetic is making a strong comeback in today's fashion and culture, and I wanted to capture that vibe through film photography. For this shoot, I focused on capturing the old-school, hip-hop, American street life aesthetic that is so iconic to that era. I collaborated with my friend Daria, who shared my vision for the shoot and brought along a variety of outfits in different colors to fit the theme perfectly.
The beauty of shooting on film is that it adds an authentic, nostalgic feel to the images. The grainy texture and raw imperfections bring a unique and timeless quality that cannot be replicated with digital photography. As a film photographer, I strive to capture the essence of the moment and bring it to life through the images I create.
I am thrilled to share these photos with you, and I hope they transport you back in time to a period that is so dear to many of us.
